Western region employees celebrate new Regional Office inauguration
Unique multi-faith prayers invocation marks opening ceremony

It has been a long time coming. Since 2009, the growth of Ujjivan in Western India has been steady, expanding to urban locations across Maharashtra and Gujarat. Our increasing presence in key areas serving over 175,000 families required expansion of our teams that support delivering a broad range of financial and non-financial services to our customers and the communities we serve. Our existing premises at Pune did not have the space to absorb such progression and growth.

The event began with peace offerings by an Anglican priest, Quran recitation by an Imam, Bani (prayers) by a Sikh Granthi and finally a Hindu peace prayer. This highlighted that in the service of the underprivileged, different cultures and faiths come together in an effort to make a difference.

Following the multi-faith dedication, Managing Director Samit Ghosh and Executive Director, Parinaam Foundation, Mrs. Elaine Ghosh inaugurated the new Western Regional Office in Pune, by lighting the ceremonial lamp.

The new office is conveniently located and a short distance away from the previous location. “Our new premises create a conducive and comfortable work environment. This will further  improve quality of our services, enabling Ujjivan to meet our long-term goals, while achieving high levels of operational efficiency and customer satisfaction”, said Jolly Zachariah, Chief Operating Officer – West.

The 100-strong Regional office employees were enthusiastic in penning their personal thoughts on Ujjivan, its culture, its people and its achievements, on the huge signature board installed to commemorate the Microfinance India - MFI of the Year award that we were proud recipients of, at the industry conclave in New Delhi recently.
