On September 26th and 27th, Ujjivan hosted 19 visitors from the U.S. as part of the Unitus Partner Expedition.
Ujjivan offered the guests from Unitus a comprehensive overview of its programs and operations, with a special
presentation by CEO, Samit Ghosh, about the future of Ujjivan and its role in reducing poverty for India’s urban
poor.
In addition to visiting the head office, the Unitus visitors toured one of Ujjivan’s health clinics in Koramangala
and traveled to Ujjivan’s branch in Ramangar for a day of field visits. While in Ramangar the group interacted with
customers, toured a silk factory, and participated in a center meeting.
Unitus, a U.S. based foundation that fights global poverty by increasing access to microfinance, is one of Ujjivan’s
largest investors. Since May 2006, they have provided Ujjivan with funding and technical assistance aimed at rapidly
scaling up its operations. The Unitus Partner Expedition offers Unitus supporters a unique experience to visit the
offices and branches of partner MFI’s and to interact with microfinance customers.
