The winter season in the Northern part of India is characterized by dense fog that lasts up to late afternoons and long icy-cold spells of the brutal winds from the Himalayas. The brunt of the harshness of winters is borne by the people living in the slums and the streets. The winter season is largely bleak for the homeless who are neglected by the authorities and eyed with suspicion by the public.
A majority of our customers come from this section of society. Therefore this time all the employees of Ujjivan’s North Region came together to collect clothes and donate to needy customers at some of the branch locations across the region, to ease (if not completely eliminate) the grim situation.
Staff from the Regional Office, area offices and from the branches collected clothes over a couple of months. In December, nearly 600 clothes and blankets were distributed in places such as Ajmer, Pali, Alwar, Bharatpur, Jaipur, Tonk, Sawai-Madhopur, Haridwar, Firozabad and in Delhi. This initiative also received media coverage in leading regional dailies
This initiative was launched with the support of Parinaam Foundation.
