Ujjivan disburses its first Individual Business Loan in North Karanataka region.

After the successful completion of the one year long pilot project conducted in 2 urban Bangalore branches - Chamrajpet and Whitefield, Ujjivan launches its Individual Business Loan (IBL) product in 10 different branches across Urban and Semi - Urban Bangalore and North Karnataka in May 2009. Individual business loans ranging from Rs 10,000 - 50,000 are being offered to existing Ujjivan customers and their family members who have a running business and require funds for working capital and capital investment. Ujjivan intends on launching IBL in over 30 branches in the south region and 20 branches in the East region in this financial year.

Sujata and her husband Chandrashekar live with their family of 5 in Bengeri area of North Hubli. Sujata has been running a tailoring business for the past 5 years and earns Rs 6,000 a month. She stitches women's clothing on order from her customers. Her husband is an autodriver and earns Rs 3,000 - 4,000 a month. Sujata joined Ujjivan in April 2008 and took out a Business loan of Rs 10,000 for the purpose of buying a tailoring machine for her business. She has currently taken an Individual Business Loan of Rs 20,000 for the purpose of buying material so that she can make her own clothes and sell ready-made garments as well.
