Ujjivan Opens 19th Branch in Karnataka

On Wednesday January 16th, Ujjivan held a branch opening ceremony for the Chennapatna branch, its 19th location in Karnataka. The ceremony marked the branch’s first loan disbursements to 89 customers for business purposes. It is located in an area thriving on many entrepreneurial activities, including a traditional wooden toy manufacturing industry. Many of Ujjivan’s target customers are involved in the craft.

Presiding over the inauguration was Samit Ghosh, CEO of Ujjivan. He spoke to the branch staff and customers about Chennapatna’s opportunity to have a vast majority of customers taking out loans to grow their business, as well as for family purposes. Mr. Ghosh welcomed the customers and sought a long relationship with them to meet their financial needs in the protracted journey to eradicate poverty.
