Pace Set for 08/09 with 11 Branches Opened in April

With ambitious branch-opening targets set for 2008-09, Ujjivan started off the year strong by opening 11 new locations nationally during the month of April. This rapid growth is part of an effort to add more than 90 new branches by March, 2009.

The southern region led the way with six new locations located in urban and semi-urban areas in both Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. Two branches were opened in Hubli, a city of 1.2 million individuals located 405 kilometers from Bangalore. The remaining four branches were opened in Belgaum, Sidlaghatta, Hosur, and Kirshnagiri; the latter two marking Ujjivan’s first entry into the state of Tamil Nadu.

Kolkata continued to expand access to Ujjivan’s services in the east by opening three branches during April. The new branches are located in Barasat, Sodepur, and Baruipur. This growth came on the heels of a successful first year for the region, in which 12 branches had been opened.

Ujjivan’s northern region also saw significant growth in April, with two new branches opened in Delhi. Jahangirpuri and Nangloi became the region’s sixth and seventh branches.
