Semi-urban branch opened in Anekal gives first loans

Ujjivan opened its 14th Bangalore branch on July 20 in the semi-urban town Anekal.

Located along the Tamil Nadu border roughly 35 miles from central Bangalore, Anekal is is famous for silk handloom business wherein 70% of working population in the town is directly involved in silk yarn twisting, handloom & allied activities.

A ceremony was held in Anekal to mark the branch opening. In attendance were the Tasildar of Anekal, a local police inspector Rajesh Kumar, several potential Ujjivan customers from the Anekal area, and several Ujjivan staff members including CEO Samit Ghosh and Distribution Manager Shantha Kumar.

Post-Addendum: The Anekal Branch disbursed its first loans on August 3. 60 loans were disbursed, amounting to nearly 5 lakhs.
