Clean and safe drinking water is one of life’s basic necessities. The people of Sherpur village in Danapur were deprived of it for a long time. Although there were a number of hand pumps available in local community, very few were delivering clean water as ground water level had gone down drastically in recent times.

As the saying goes “there is an opportunity in every scarcity”, we had the opportunity to provide clean and safe water to the local community. Our customers identified a common ground near the Gram Panchayat Bhavan in the village for the drilling and construction of a 200-foot deep boring tube well.

About 50-60 households in the neighbourhood will benefit from this tube well. The head of the local Panchayat (village self-government) and Asha Sinha, MLA, Danapur inaugurated the installation. She said, “...this effort proves that Ujjivan truly believes in the holistic development of society and community”. People from the community were present in huge numbers at the inauguration and said this borewell will be a great help in getting clean and safe water, particularly in the hot summer season when the ground water level goes down.
