On Saturday, August 22, the Ujjivan running team participated in the Urban Stampede ’09 held in Bangalore. The event had 139 corporate and 10 non-corporate teams participating in different categories, with almost 600 runners!
Ujjivan participated in the Mixed Category (Teams consisting of Men and Women). The four member team consisted of Shreya Rao, Brian Frazier, Sachin Chiramel and Rohidas Ghadigaonkar. Despite being unprepared for the race and having to make last-minute changes in the team due to illness, the Ujjivan team put up a spirited performance to finish the 20km Urban Stampede relay race in 2-hours and 4-minutes. This ensured that the Ujjivan team was placed 19th out of the 38 corporate teams that participated in this category. This is a testament to the infectious enthusiasm and team spirit that all the Ujjivan team members exhibited during the race.
The Ujjivan team now looks forward to being part of the Delhi half-marathon slated for early November and is practicing hard for the same. They assure us that the next time around, they will bring home more than a participation certificate!
