Over the years, Ujjivan, as a pioneering urban microfinance institution has been the subject of many a case study in professional academies.
Ujjivan: An Organisation Structured for Growth - a case study on Ujjivan formed part of the Microfinance Training Programme of Boulder Institute of Microfinance, in Turin, Italy. Over 304 participants from 84 countries attended the program. These participants represented MFIs, finance ministries, central banks, donor agencies, consulting firms and universities, among others.

Ujjivan continues to have healthy business operations across twenty states, excellent portfolio quality with no exposure in Andhra, and sufficient liquidity to meet all its business requirements.
In the past Ujjivan’s case study was taught at Harvard Business School featuring in executive training offered in association with ACCION. The training is attended by microfinance practitioners from around the world.
The case is presented as a teaching material for risk and fraud management. Participants had lively discussions, with the overall consensus being that Ujjivan's growth strategy would benefit it in the long run, and that it was operating on a sustainable model. They also debated Ujjivan's centralized structure and talked about the need for strong controls in the future.
