Ujjivan ID card comes to a customer’s aid at the time of a crisis
Mrs. M. Thilsath is an Ujjivan customer at the Coimbatore-Ganapathi branch. Thilsath is a rice trader and had taken a loan of Rs. 8,000 for her business from Ujjivan. After a long and tiring day at her business, she visited a nearby market at about 7.30 PM on 29th January. The roads were busy and congested and she had to wait for a while in the thickly polluted air to cross the street. This took a toll on her and she felt giddy and became unconscious. A security guard of a nearby trading company made efforts to help her and searched her bag to get her contact details. In the process he found the Ujiivan ID card in her bag. The guard contacted Thilsath’s husband on the cell phone number printed on the Ujjivan ID card. Her husband, Mr. Mohammed Yousuf immediately came to the spot and took her to the hospital. Now Thilsath has recovered to good health and is back to running her rice business.

Both Thilsath and her husband expressed their gratitude to the guard and to Ujjivan, for their life might have taken a turn for the worse if events had panned out differently.

The incident portrays the innate goodness of human nature, cutting across socio-economic barriers and also shows that it is imperative to have an ‘identity’, no matter where we are.
