Service Champions – June

Rajey Abhiman Nikam, CRM – Nasik Road Branch (Maharashtra)

Rajay Nikam, the CRM of Nasik Road branch visited the home of a customer Mrs.Kamal Bhimrao Borkar, as part of a procedural requirement (house visit). There he discovered that Bhimrao Borkar, her husband, was unable to work for the past couple of months due to an eye ailment which was hindering his vision. Rajay enquired further and was informed that Bhimrao had visited a private hospital for treatment but did not avail medical help as the family couldn’t mobilize Rs. 15,000/- demanded by the hospital for his eye operation. The family was disturbed and had lost all hopes for Bhimrao being able to regain his vision.

Rajay had worked at the MVP Hospital Medical College before coming to Ujjivan and was aware that the hospital provides free service to poor patients. Rajay referred Bhimrao’s case and persuaded hospital authorities to carry out surgery free of cost. His request was considered favourably and the hospital authorities carried out surgery successfully.

Bhimrao had practically lost all hopes for regaining vision. It is due to timely help provided by Rajey that Bhimrao was blessed with vision. The outstanding service provided by Rajey beyond the call of duty made everyone working in West very proud.

Sachin Gaikwad, CRS – Nasik City Branch (Maharashtra)

This is an exemplary act of service by Sachin Gaikwad, a CRS at Nasik City Branch. During a Centre Meeting, Sachin noticed that his customer Pramila Ware was very depressed as her uncle Raghunath Sonawane was suffering from cancer. The family couldn't afford his treatment as medical expenditure was beyond their capacity.

Sachin himself hails from a poor family background and can appreciate the family difficulties in providing medical treatment to cancer patients as he lost his father due to the same illness. Fortunately, he knew that the Shirdi Sai Baba Sanstha Trust in Nasik helps such needy families. He proceeded to help Pramila's family in filling the forms and submitting the documents to the Trust. Sachin's contacts there and his persuasion helped Raghunath to get financial assistance of Rs 15000/- from the Trust, which allowed him to undergo treatment at NMC Hospital, Nasik. Pramila was very happy and feels that Ujjivan understands the real value of Jivan (life), and practices humaneness.

Sunil Tiwari, CRM – Nangloi Branch (Delhi)

One of our customers, Lt. Poonam expired in August last year due to blood cancer. She was a widow and had 3 children, of which the eldest is mentally challenged while the other two are minors. Because of this Ujjivan faced problems in arranging the processing of the insurance claim for the nominee (mentally challenged son).

Sunil, a CRM trainee at the Nangloi Branch took it as a personal challenge and played an active role to provide what was due to the bereaved family. He took the initiative to arrange all the doctor's certificates and other myriad documentation, coordinating with the family and other authorities to expedite the whole process. It nearly took 6 months but was worth every effort. In June, Poonam's eldest son (claim nominee) was duly paid the insurance claim amount.
