The Pimpri branch in Pune crossed the 1000 customer milestone. An event was organised on 14th October to commemorate this occasion. It was a special event for the West region, as this was the first time that a branch was formally dedicated to the local community being served by the branch. The Ujjivan team was enthused by the feedback received from customers, which confirms that the branch is able to achieve the desired impact.
The event was attended by over 40 customers (Centre Leaders), Jolly Zachariah, COO- West Region, and the Guest of Honour was Lt. Col. Murthy Rajan, Country Head- HR. Lt. Col. Rajan spoke about how Ujjivan has grown to serve over 500,000 poor women through 202 branches across 12 states in India. Mr. Zachariah shared his thoughts on Ujjivan’s experience in the West, the youngest of Ujjivan’s 4 regions.
Some customers narrated the impact that Ujjivan has had on their lives. This made the event a heart warming experience. Customers were outspoken and also came out with suggestions on areas which Ujjivan could build and improve on, thus providing the leadership team with valuable customer insights.
Ujjivan now has an outreach of 13 branches across Maharashtra and with ambitious growth plans to cover areas such as Mumbai, an area that other MFIs have stayed away from. The team in the west is optimistic about the impact that they would continue to make towards the ultimate goal of poverty alleviation.
