On 6th April 2010, Parinaam Foundation awarded the first higher education scholarship to an Ujjivan customer at the Whitefield branch in Bangalore. The beneficiary of the scholarship was Anusuya, daughter of Ujjivan customer Soubhagyavathi. The scholarship will enable her to pursue a Bachelors Degree in Computer Applications at SEA College of Science, Commerce and Arts in Bangalore.
As the Ujjivan Education Loan only provides loans to customers for education until the 12th standard/ Pre-University, the higher education scholarship aims at providing customers’ children the opportunity to continue their education either in terms of a Bachelors Degree, Diploma or a vocational training course. A robust selection process has been designed to ensure that all deserving applicants are provided with a scholarship. Applications are evaluated on a holistic basis taking into account factors such as the student’s academic track record, the socio-economic condition of the family and the aptitude and inclination of the student to pursue higher education.
