Brightening up lives : Distribution of solar lamps to flood-affected

In the beginning of September, Ainthapalli in Orissa was hit by gale force winds, torrential rains, and floods - damaging the little property our customers own and completely destroying the homes of 48 families and whatever little valuables they cherish, leaving them begging for refuge in schools, colleges and NGOs.

The Ainthapalli branch team informed Parinaam Foundation of the situation, carrying out on-field research and providing detailed updates. Keeping customers’ needs upmost in their minds, the team explored the possibilities of providing support to the families.

During the festival of Diwali, Indian families light lamps (diyas) in their homes, symbolizing hope and positive energy to remove the evils from life and preparing for a fresh and clean start. This Diwali, with the generous support of Shell Foundation, 48 solar lamps were provided by Parinaam Foundation to the families who lost their homes, giving them a glimmer of light and hope in making a new start.

On distribution of the lamps by staff, customers had bright smiles on their faces and were unrestrained with their blessings for the gesture and a timely Diwali gifting.

A Thank you to all in Parinaam Foundation and Ujjivan who put in much hard work to make this Diwali special one for the families in Orissa.
